our salt dough christmas

Hiya all,

Ive always loved making salt dough and our own play dough, Harry loves rolling it and using the cutters to shape it.

I saw lots of lovely Christmas salt dough ideas on pinterest and last week we made some. Yes last week, I'm just blogging about it as i stupidly didn't bake them, i just left them to air dry (because last time i baked some they turned orange!) So i left them out and 6days later they were dry enough!!

The recipe i use is so simple, i use one of Harry's tea cups and fill it with flour, let him tip it into the mixing bowl, then add a half filled cup of salt and then a full cup of water, then mix. I add extra flour or water depending on how its going (i hate measuring!) you can then add food colouring or glitter but i like to keep ours plain especially as i was painting them.

my amazing baby jesus at the bottom!
Last night i painted some of them:-

Today we made some more so Harry can paint them. I baked these for 3hrs on gas mark one and luckily they didn't turn orange, Harry will get to paint them and glitter them tomorrow :)

anyone guess what the thing is bottom left?
Cant wait to hang them on the tree, and for Harry to give some to my sister for her tree and my brother too :)

  1. Yay! Salt dough is so cool, we did salt dough tree ornaments, too! Although mine did turn a bit orange, so I'm going to experiment with cornflour and see if that helps lol. Leaving them out is a good idea! It looks like Harry enjoyed making them! They are so cute.
    I love pinterest <3
