School gate competition
Hiya all,
Today I've been on the school run duty, my niece goes to the same school where my sister and mom work so on certain days they have to stop over for meetings so I have the lovely job of fetching her! Now I have no problem with fetching my niece I love her, (well at the moment she's just threw a tantrum because I told her to stop messing in the water in the bath) but I do love her.
What I don't love is the other 'mothers' at the school she goes to the mother (90% of them) they seem to think they are gods gift to mankind! No matter what weather, they have there flesh on show and full face if slap, most are also David Dickinson orange, just to complete the look!
Today as many will no is end of term, and a new sort of competition has broken out at our school gates, end of term presents! Giving the child's teacher a card to say 'thanks for putting up with my child for this term' and a present too! This just smacks as desperate to me! Every term, trying to buy the teachers favouritism with presents is just daft seen as I have family members that work at the school, I no how much they 'talk about' said parents who do such daft things. To top this, one of the reception teachers are leaving, so it was awash with mothers with gifts at the doors today, the local florist must of rubbed there hands together, there were big bouquets of flowers, helium balloons Thornton's chocolates, keys to a new Bentley, OK maybe I made that last one up but you get the idea! A card I understand, but balloons saying 'Miss you already' is just odd! Its not as though she's been there for years, she's only been there a year tops.
The same happens at Christmas, its a who can buy the best pressie free for all. Easter is also the same, there was a whole school comp that was running last Easter where the child had to plant a flower in a 'unusual object' and bring it in. There were all manner on things, pottys, shoes, toys. The child that won, his mother, I shall call 'mrs ikea' (I once saw her in ikea, so I saw it fitting) had clearly been out, brought a brand new Chrome toaster and brought it in with a plant hanging out the top of it! I mean I love competition as much as the next (OK maybe more as I am quite competitive) but just proving how much money you can spend is ridicules, especially just to win a 1.99 Easter egg for your child.
Said Mrs ikea was well at the front of the Que with the flowers today, crying like someone had died, get a bloody grip, she's leaving to better her career, she's not dead!
OK so this post is just mainly me moaning and having a rant, but I'd love to no if this happens at other school gates?

2) What happened to there being just one 7 o'clock in the day? i never knew there were 2 before i had you haribo!
3) You really need a hair cut!
4) I will wash my hair today (puts it off and uses dry shampoo!!)
5) Wonder what hubby's doing at work? bet he doesn't have to deal with poo/wee and tantrums, then again he does work in mechanics garage so who knows!
6) Theirs no calories in biscuits when you dip them in tea! they all melt off so its fine to empty the biscuits jar while drinking your cuppa

None PR advertising
Hiya all,
As most bloggers will be aware of (well I wasn't until recently) most of us get asked to advertise on our blogs by PR company's.
But I thought why not do a bit of advertising to company's or websites that we really think are good, and need a bit of advertising :)
So we have 2 that I'd like to tell you about
1st- busybeecandles http://www.busybeecandles.co.uk/
These candles are blinking amazing, the smell really is true to scent and it lasts! (Unlike some cheap candles and more expensive ones come to think of it) but the best thing is the price, bargains! The twitter of this company is brill, always a great discount code on offer, and if you have any questions there answered within minutes.
The current code for a great discount is BBCSpring30 for a whopping 30% off!!
My personal favourite is rhubarb and custard!! Amazing!
2nd - thebookclub - http://www.thebookclub.co.uk/rewardsref/index/refer/id/234/
This is a new found one, I stumbled upon them via twitter, and thought why not test my luck and ask them if they knew of a book for a 5yr old birthday, with a character in it called Evie (for my niece) and within minutes they had replied with 'Evie the mist fairy' perfect!!
The book club is not a sales website, but will advise what's best for your taste and where's cheapest to buy from. A great idea, also you can earn points, for reviewing books and you get some points just for signing up. 100 points = £1 towards a book.
So there we go, some non PR advertising by me :)
Hope your all enjoying this weather

In your Easter Bonnet . .
With all your frills upon it - you will be the finest lady, in the Easter Parade!
(as the song goes)
Hiya all,
So the eater parade is tomorrow at my nieces school, and last year, you will remember me telling you how i made a light up bonnet for her:-
Well i was so stuck for ideas this year, after a few nights thinking i finally came up with a idea.
a farm yard!
You might say well what has that got to do with Easter, but as my niece and her parents don't believe in god (i shall not go into this now but il just say that i do believe in god) i though that farming and spring flowers all come to life at Easter with all the crops and baby animals being born so why not?.
So here it is Easter Bonnet 2012
farm bonnet
pond
veg patches and the rabbits!
the chicks and eggs
Happy Easter!
(a little tempted to add some extra sparkles and bows later, im not to sure)
Let me know what you think?

Love & Marriage. . .
Hiya all,
Shame I'll never have one though. Over the last few months/years, marriage has always been talked about by me and Gareth, weather it be friends of ours getting married, or engaged or just from watching big fat gypsy wedding.
The problem is, we will never agree, I would want full on gypsy wedding style, in a church, the full bells and whistles, bows and bling with the whole of my extended family there for the occasion. Gareth on the other hand would want quick wedding at registry office then off to a local pub with immediate friends and family. So we could never agree.
But in reality after all the huge wedding dresses are taken out of the equation, I don't understand the need for a wedding/marriage and name change to prove that your 'in love'. I love Gareth (sorry get the sick buckets) but I don't think me taking his name is necessary? I love my own name too much (yes I'm selfish i cant help this, i like to call it youngest child syndrome lol). Harry has Gareth's last name, and I have no problem with that, some friends have asked 'don't you feel like a broken family without sharing a name with your son' and the answer is no! I don't love my son any more or less because he has a different last name to me, not at all. He's my son and that's it!
A double barrel name might be OK you may think, wrong, when one is Moore and one is Hood. Moore-Hood or Hood-Moore just sounds wrong what ever way you say it!!
It just screams oooo!
My parents celebrated 40yrs of marriage last week, and they both say 'don't bother' as there advice to people when marriage is mentioned, my sister has been married and divorced and now re married to another man, but as much as my mom likes my sisters husband, she still told them not to bother. I shall add to this that my sister is 40 this year - you do the maths!!
Do I think there is a place for marriage in the society these days, yes if that what you want.
But do I also think its more acceptable to live unmarried, hell yes!
So I will be Ms Moore for a long time to come, I might buy myself a wedding dress off ebay, just to wear round the house to forfil me need for a hugggge dress! (you may think I'm joking but Ive 100% considered this too many times)
What's your opinions on marriage and children's names?
Love Lucy x

Harrys CBeebies Birthday card!
Hiya all,
As Ive mentioned in a few previous posts, i was making Harry's 2nd Birthday card to send to CBeebies,
most of you will no the idea, you make a card with your child's photo and age, with there favourite characters from CBeebies on in the hope that when you send it in they might show it on there Birthday Time segment.
Last year Harry was lucky enough to have his 1st birthday card shown.
This year i wanted to go better as i think last years card looked a bit shabby on the telly. As Harrys a big fan of the Night Garden, i thought i would go with that theme.
So after a few nights with the PVA glue, here's what it looked like:-
I sent it of the 5weeks in advance as they like to receive it early, and then waited for his birthday to come.
We had seen the 1st 2 birthday segments and they hadn't shown it, just the 4:25pm slot was left, and the 1st few cards were show, and not Harry's, i was a little gutted I'm not going to lie, and then there it was, on Kerry's lap! I was so excited, i genuinely screamed, Harry was just watching as he normally does, it wasn't until they lifted the flap to show his face that he realised it was for him!!
His face was a picture!
Here's the video of his card on cbeebies, Ive videoed this from the CBeebies iplayer.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend

Harrys 2nd Birthday - (lots of pictures dont say i didnt warn you)
Hiya all,
As i said yesterday it was my little dudes 2nd birthday!!
(still hasn't sunk in, I'm a mommy to a 2yr old)
He woke up and we had decorated the living room in a Disney Cars theme, with huge scene setters for the walls, bunting and balloons :)
He was a little scared at 1st but soon got into wrecking the place and trying to pop the balloons :)
He then opened his pressies and cards, he was a very lucky all be it a little spoilt boy! Thank you to everyone who sent him cards pressies and birthday wishes, it really means alot!
We then did 'the rounds' you no when you have to go see all the family, so we went to Gareth's nans, then to his dads.
As we walked in from that it was 15:25pm, the exact time he was born 2years before, we took a photo at the exact time, as we had done the year before on his birthday.
At 4:25pm, Harry's birthday card was show on Cbeebies (will do a seperate post about this)
My mom finished work at 6pm and her and my sister came up, my sister with the cake she had made for him.
I think it looked brill, Its Tow Mater from Disney's Cars :)
Today we went to Blackbrook zoo, i managed to get a 'bargin' from groupon, 2 adult tickets for £7, it was about 1hr away from ours In the car, how wrong google maps were, it eventually took us just over 2hrs to get there!
On entering Harry was nearly taken out by rather a evil peacock, who flew directly at him :( the rest of the 'zoo' was OK, not really a zoo more of a bird sanctuary, with meerkats and a few other random animals.
I was so glad we didn't have to pay the full price that would of been nearly £10 each person!
We have just got home, and are going to relax now, might play in the garden as it lovely and bright out.
Over all i think Harry's enjoyed his birthday and all his pressies and spending time with family.
Sorry for the millions of pictures, i did warn you lol
We hope you have a lovely weekend, tomorrow harry and daddy are going to do something fun while i go to the theatre with my mom and dad to see Birds of a feather (ironic really!!!)
